LEGO Mindstorms EV3 is a consumer robotics platform designed to introduce a younger generation to the excitement of building, programming, and playing with robots, while expanding the flexibility for its devoted following of robotics enthusiasts.
Enhanced technologies and smart device integration provide a wide range of opportunities for LEGO builders aged 10 and over to create and command their own robots. Improved modular design makes it easy to build and program a robot in 20 minutes, and from there the EV3 is more hackable than before.
Consumer robotics the LEGO way
The LEGO Group assembled a multinational team of product designers, technologists, and enthusiasts to evolve the Mindstorms platform. Over a period of three years, the platform's hardware and software were reimagined, while a core team of 12 user-enthusiasts tested the platform limits and co-developed models, applications, and an expanded hacking environment.
With LEGO Mindstorms, you can turn your LEGO creations into live robots of every type and with any kind of behaviour. However, to get you introduced to what LEGO Mindstorms is all about, it is recommend that you begin with one of the five cool robot characters.

Track3r is a crawler-mounted all-terrain robot with four interchangeable tools: bi-blade blender, blasting bazooka, gripping claw, and heavy hammer.

With the LEGO Mindstorms EV3 set, building your own robot has never been easier. Think of a robot, then build it; the programming software then acts as your guide as you bring your robot to life.
1. Think it: Think up the robot you want to to create and what you want it to do. Should it play the guitar, protect your room against unwanted intruders, or throw biscuits at your dog when it barks? You decide!
2. Build it: Build your robot using the LEGO Technic elements and intelligent sensors included in the set.
